*SMTW FORUM Welcomes Fingal County Council's Decision to Request Further Information from DAA*
Dublin, 17th February 2024 - SMTW FORUM Group, representing residents living in Fingal and Meath affected by aircraft noise and pollution from Dublin Airport, welcomes the decision by Fingal County Council to request additional information from the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) regarding their infrastructure application.
The council's thorough review uncovered more than 375 significant deficiencies within the application, including glaring errors, inconsistencies, and omissions among many other serious concerns.
In a comprehensive assessment, the council concluded that despite the voluminous 7000+ page documentation provided by the DAA, critical information crucial for informed decision-making was lacking. This decision underscores the council's commitment to uphold rigorous standards and prioritize the well-being of our communities and environment.
"SMTW FORUM commends Fingal County Council for their diligence in scrutinizing the DAA's application," representatives said. "The council's findings echo many of the concerns and issues raised in our own submission. We are pleased to see that all our communities collective efforts have helped encourage the council's decision to seek further clarification and rectification from the DAA."
The decision to request additional information reaffirms the importance of transparency, accountability, and responsible development practices in safeguarding our shared environment and ensuring sustainable growth.
SMTW FORUM remains committed to actively engaging with stakeholders and advocating for the health and wellbeing of residents, especially children, affected by the operations at Dublin Airport.
